It is an attempt to locate one’s position as an individual and a nation in this cosmic intellectual loneliness. In one sense, the self is a revolt against the indolent prevailing world view that has nothing or little to do with the African problems, in another; it is a journey leading to the discovery of endless homegrown treasures of knowledge and wisdom. It is divided into three parts. Part one is the mother of the rest. It builds a new system solely based on the African thought process, and discovers an intellectual identity-Africanness, upon which multiple concurrent philosophical problems are resolved. Part two is an interpretation of African brotherhood, sisterhood, family and the state from within the harmonious African establishment. Harmony not contradiction of values is innate to African reality. African values not only coexist but built a beautiful reception of one another in a symphonic way. The Self in part three breaks into a shocking discovery of African world views, and exposes the incompatibility of prevailing ruling ideas and its rejection by the silent majority. This is a break away from the chains of ‘modernists’ who for over five decades tried proxy attempts to erode Africanness.
