AFROREAD TERMS OF SERVICE

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("You," "User") and Gizuf Digital Service PLC, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ("Company," "We," "Us," "Our") governing access to and use of the AfroRead mobile application, website (afroreadapp.com), and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, You agree to these Terms. If You do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Interpretation and Definitions

Capitalized terms have the meanings below, whether singular or plural.

  • Application -- The AfroRead software.
  • Application Store -- Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Account -- A registered user account.
  • Affiliate -- Any entity controlling, controlled by, or under common control with a party.
  • Content -- eBooks, audiobooks, text, graphics, software, and related materials.
  • Device -- Any device capable of accessing the Service.
  • Feedback -- Suggestions, ideas, or improvements submitted by You.
  • Free Trial -- A limited free subscription period.
  • Promotions -- Contests or special offers governed by separate rules.
  • Service -- The AfroRead platform.
  • Subscriptions -- Paid recurring access plans.
  • Third-Party Services -- External services or links not controlled by Us.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering a binding agreement.

3. User Accounts

You must provide accurate information and safeguard your credentials. You are responsible for all activity under your Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions

4.1 General Terms

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before renewal. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. We may modify subscription fees with reasonable prior notice.

4.2 Subscription Details for Ethiopian Users

Free Trial
Ethiopian users subscribing via Ethio Telecom carrier billing receive a 3-day free trial. Unless canceled before expiration, the subscription converts automatically to a paid plan.

Plans and Pricing (After Free Trial)

  • Daily Plan -- 5 ETB/day
  • Weekly Plan -- 25 ETB/week
  • Monthly Plan -- 80 ETB/month

How to Subscribe (Send to 9632)

  • "A" -- Daily Plan
  • "B" -- Weekly Plan
  • "C" -- Monthly Plan

How to Cancel (Send to 9632)

  • "STOP A" -- Cancel Daily
  • "STOP B" -- Cancel Weekly
  • "STOP C" -- Cancel Monthly

Charges are deducted from airtime via Ethio Telecom carrier billing. Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund prior charges.

4.3 Global Users and Other Payment Methods

Users outside carrier billing may subscribe or purchase individual books using supported payment methods. Automatic renewal applies unless canceled. If billing fails, access may be suspended until payment is resolved.

5. Per-Book Purchases

Users may purchase individual digital books without subscribing. Purchases grant a limited, non-transferable license for personal use and remain accessible subject to licensing agreements and platform availability.

6. Promotions

Any Promotions made available through the Service may be governed by rules that are separate from these Terms.

If You participate in any Promotions, please review the applicable rules as well as our Privacy Policy. If the rules for a Promotion conflict with these Terms, the Promotion rules will apply.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding Content provided by You or other users), features and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Gizuf Digital Service PLC and its licensors.

The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of Ethiopia and foreign countries.

Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of the Company.

8. Feedback

You assign to the Company all rights, title, and interest in any Feedback provided. If assignment is ineffective, You grant a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free worldwide license to use such Feedback without restriction.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

10. Application Store Compliance

If the Application is downloaded from an Application Store:

  • The Store is not responsible for the Service.
  • The license granted is limited to permitted devices.
  • You must comply with applicable store terms.
  • Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of this section.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to violate laws, bypass payment systems, share accounts, reverse engineer the Service, or interfere with Service functionality.

12. Privacy

Use of the Service is conditioned upon acceptance of our Privacy Policy.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or as required by law. Upon termination, your right to access subscription content ceases.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company's total liability shall not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount paid in the previous 3 months, or
  • 100 USD (or equivalent).

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages.

15. "AS IS" Disclaimer

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, compatibility, or uninterrupted availability. Where limitations are restricted by law, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to attempt informal dispute resolution before initiating legal proceedings.

17. International Compliance

EU Users
EU consumers benefit from mandatory protections under their local law.

U.S. Legal Compliance
You represent that You are not located in a country subject to U.S. embargo or on a prohibited party list.

18. Severability and Waiver

If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain enforceable. Failure to enforce a right does not constitute waiver.

19. Translation

If these Terms are translated, the English version prevails in case of conflict.

20. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted with an updated date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
